Cary, NC – Monday was my first day back after spending most of last week in Augusta, Georgia working at the Masters. Other than getting wind-blasted for 12 hours a day, it was a fantastic tournament and I was blessed to have the opportunity to volunteer for my 38th year.

In addition to talking about issues coming before council, we talked about an idea being floated by some people to do property reevaluation every four years instead of every eight years. The downside of that is the cost, which I understand would be over one million for Cary.
Saturday I joined local Chinese business leaders and elected officials for dinner at the newly opened East Garden in Cary. They wanted to show us authentic Chinese food in an upscale atmosphere.
Emails from staff this week included the announcement that the NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Committee has chosen the WakeMed Stadium in Cary, North Carolina and the Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium in Stony Brook, New York to host national semifinal and final matches for the 2017 and 2018 NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championships.
We discussed a variety of items, including the Academy Streetscape project, which has now fallen behind schedule. Soon, the council will be presented with a choice to close the Academy and Chatham intersection for an extended time with a short duration OR to have incremental closings for a longer duration.
Cary’s population was estimated to be 155,918 which is a growth rate of 2.8% for the last 12 months. The town was 58.57 square miles.
