Friday morning I gave the annual State of the Town address at the Cary Chamber’s Eye Opener Breakfast. I summarized the state of our town in one word, STRONG.
While most municipalities spend retreats struggling with how to play nice and act like adults, Cary was able to do a “deep dive” on several complex issues.
Issues on the agenda included questions about the loan for the Mayton Inn, a question about the bicycle and pedestrian funding allocation, questions about the Cornerstone rezoning, and a concern about two of the Land Development Ordinance amendments.
Saturday I had the honor and privilege to participate in an Eagle Scout ceremony for twelve scouts which has to be some kind of a record.
There was a water main break on Christmas and according to sources the town staff fixed this with smiles on their faces despite being away from their families on Christmas.
In case you are not familiar with quasi-judicial hearings, these are hearings where the council has powers and procedures resembling those of a court of law or judge.
Tuesday’s first meeting was with the new principal of Cary High School about the mid-block crosswalk on Walnut Street.
Then gifts were exchanged. I received a very cool gift, a bobble head of me! Strange but very cool.
The disappointing thing is that the newspaper uses this fact to yank the emotional chain of its readers rather than providing the information and letting the readers decide for themselves.
This week was a very light week for meetings and events. However, I will pay for it next week.
