Monday I joined Mayor Pro-Tem Bush, council member Frantz, and council member George for the graduation ceremony for Cary High School. There were 541 graduates getting their diplomas. It was a privilege to sit on stage and watch the faces of the graduates as they walked by.
April is National Volunteer Month and one Cary resident took that occasion to reflect on what is now 50 years of volunteer work here in the community.
This week consisted mostly of meetings.
Monday I facilitated two meetings at Apex town hall. The first meeting was the Cary Apex Water Treatment Advisory Committee which makes decisions on our water treatment. Cary and Apex are the only two voting members. At this meeting we heard about the water treatment expansion to 56 mgd (million gallons a day) which will go online soon. Currently our maximum demand on peak days is around 40 mgd. Per capita usage has been going down for years and has now leveled off.
This was a busy and eventful week.
Sadly, Daphne Ashworth passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018, leaving behind a legacy that helped shape Downtown Cary as well as a number of other cultural contributions.
This was a big week for me as I walked my youngest daughter down the aisle.

This week was busy which is typical for the last full week of the month.
The latest Cary Town Council meeting saw a vote on the Community Development Block Grant, which brought up many of the same criticisms that surrounded the Trimble Avenue rezoning case approved in June as Town Council voted to give Habitat for Humanity its requested funding.
