Panthers Beat: Train to the Game
I love football. But I hate driving to football games. That’s why I decided to take the train from Cary to see the Panthers play the New York Giants last week in Charlotte.

Alan Jackson played country music at Booth Amphitheatre in Cary on Friday night. Just country music. No light show, no costume changes, no eye candy back up singers. An acoustic guitar and a country singer-songwriter.
WakeMed Soccer Park hosted an important game Saturday night as our NASL Carolina RailHawks (7-7-7) played the Edmonton Eddies (5-6-11) in front of just under 4000 fans.

I’m a traditional country music lover, and I twisted the arm of my wife, Chris, to go – insisting that this was history and these two artists won’t be touring forever (although they almost have been touring forever). She assured me after the show, that she was glad she did.
The self-proclaimed greatest beer sippin’, bourbon tastin’, music listenin’, cigar smokin’, and barbeque eatin’ festival in the USA hit Cary this weekend. I’d proclaim it pretty darn good myself.
The Carolina RailHawks tied the Tampa Bay Rowdies 3-3 Saturday night with 5,000 in attendance at WakeMed Soccer Park.
Lyuba Boulkina and Simon Tsykov went back to their homeland a couple weeks ago for an extended visit. But when they returned to Cary, they found some squatters living in the garage.
OK, THIS is funny. I caught the lovely owners of this home working in the yard while I was driving down Glen Abbey Drive in Cary.
My daughter Colleen was driving. “Stop the car!” I hollered. I asked my youngest, Sarah, to snap a quick picture. And then I jumped out of the car.
The homeowners asked me to withhold their names while we were laughing so hard we could hardly stand it.
The Carolina RailHawks match against the Minnesota Stars FC last night was delayed for 4 hours. The RailHawks were able to come away with another win, 1-0, despite nature’s fireworks. The match was the longest game in NASL history and was completed in the wee hours Sunday morning.
