Harold’s Blog: Town Council Meeting, State Senator and More

Cary, NC – This week was the first week with a normal schedule in quite a while.

Monday – Preparing for the Week

On Monday I contacted each council member to hear about concerns and questions they had with the upcoming council meeting agenda. One council member wanted the project for Habitat for Humanity on Tremble Avenue property to be pulled from consent so that the benefits of the flooding controls could be presented in public. Other council members made comments on a proposed office building on Green Level West. Council members also made comments about the Green Level West Road and Pine Rail project that included 75 townhomes.  Read more

Harold’s Blog: Economic Forecast, Start of 2019 and More

Cary, NC – Happy New Year!

Since this was a holiday week there isn’t a lot to post.

Thursday – Economic Forecast

Thursday morning I attended the Economic Forecast breakfast held by the Cary Chamber. At the beginning of the event, I had the honor and privilege of administering the Oath of Office for my friend Gale Adcock’s third term in the North Carolina House of Representatives. Mayor Pro-Tem Bush held Gale’s Bible (her grandmother’s). I have had the pleasure to know Gale since 2007 and served with her on the Cary council for years. I couldn’t possibly think of a better person to represent Cary. I am sure she will continue to do a great job on our behalf. Read more

Harold’s Blog: Holiday Receptions, Town Branding and More

Cary, NC – This week was very slow since it is the week before the Christmas holiday and New Year’s.

Monday – Mayors Association

Monday I attended the annual Mayors Association holiday dinner which was held in Wake Forest. I was joined by council members Robinson, Smith, and Yerha as well as several staff members. It was a time of fellowship and for reconnecting with officials from all over the county. I estimate there were over 100 people in attendance. The Mayors Association and municipalities paid for the elected officials’ dinner. We all paid for our spouse’s dinner. Read more

Samaritan’s Corner: When It Was Her Turn

Cary, NC – Welcome To Samaritan’s Corner. Let’s Talk!

Matthew 27:5 – “Then Judas threw the silver coins down in the Temple and went and hanged himself.” Judas Iscariot was one of the twelve disciples. As he traveled with Jesus, he witnessed miracle after miracle. Sight given to the blind, the dead raised to life and even diseased dead skin restored back to skin like that of a new born baby. But let us not forget about the greatest miracle of them all that Judas Iscariot witnessed, and that’s the miracle of forgiveness. It’s one of the hardest things for a hurt human heart to do. Some people would prefer to live out a life sentence and be imprisoned by their own unforgiveness than to forgive and be free.

Cary Stormwater

Don’s Blog: Stormwater

Cary, NC – Cary is one of the greatest communities to live in America. Yet after a heavy storm event, for some of our citizens, it’s all washed up.

Stormwater and flooding have caused problems for decades – especially in older areas of town developed before 2000 when Cary didn’t have many of the stormwater mitigation regulations and riparian buffer requirements that we have today. Some homes were literally constructed in a floodplain – a practice that is prohibited today. Aging and in some cases, inadequate infrastructure is also a concern. Read more

Tuesday – Planning for Week

Tuesday I contacted council members to hear of questions or concerns they may have had about Thursday’s upcoming regularly scheduled council meeting.
