Inside the Eye: Canes Blanked Again

Cary, NC – The Carolina Hurricanes had a lot on the line Friday Nov. 18th after the horrible performance in the 0-4 loss to Montreal.

The Buffalo Sabres beefed up over the summer on the blue line.  Brian Boucher had a surprise start in goal and played great.  There’s not much love between the Canes and Sabres in every aspect.

Buffalo fans are…let’s say…a special breed.  Confession: my college roommate, great guy – and very smart, except he’s a Sabres fan. I try to not hold it against him. Read more

Cary Man Skydives to Fame & Glory

Cary, NC – Cary resident Lawrence Wobker won a gold medal recently in the intermediate 8-way formation skydiving competition at the 2011 U.S. Parachute Association National Skydiving Championships. The competition took place at Skydive Arizona, an expansive skydiving resort located in Eloy, midway between Phoenix and Tucson. Read more

Cary-lina, NC – The bye last week gave Panthers fans time to build up their hopes only to be disappointed as the Tennessee Titans crushed them 30-3. Indeed this was an opportunity for the Panthers, since the Titans had been struggling of late. Even Vegas had the Panthers as favorites in this game. Read more

Green Hope Soccer Advances

Cary, NC –  Green Hope High School men’s varsity soccer team advances to the third round of the state playoffs by beating Enloe High School on Saturday with a final score of 4-2.  In a tight match against Enloe, Green Hope was down by a 2-1 margin in the second half when Kellen Foster scored to tie the game.  Read more

Weekend Canes, Part 2: Loss to Stars

Cary-lina, NC – The Carolina Hurricanes hosted the Dallas Stars on Sunday, November 06, 2011 which was the 2500th game for the Hurricane franchise.  Dallas has surprised many outside of Texas by leading the Pacific Conference and being 2nd overall in the NHL.  The Stars only trail Chicago and if the Canes played like they played against Chicago 10 days ago, they may have fared better than the 5-2 loss. Cary-lina, NC – The Canes hosted the Southeast Division leader, the Washington Capitals, Friday Nov. 4 with all its fire power and high salaries.  Ever look into the cost of a game at the Verizon Center?  If so, you could upgrade to Club Level at the RBC Center and still buy beer for your group.  The Canes only win against the Caps last year was a shoot out win in D.C. and normally their games are close.  This one wasn’t one of them losing 5-1, ending their home win streak at 2 games.
